The Portsmouth City Council (Freedom of the City) (Temporary Road Closure) (No.151) Order 2025
Portsmouth City Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding in the roads and the lengths of roads set out below between 09:00 to 12:30 on Wednesday 17th Sep 2025.
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE (ROLLING CLOSURE)
From 09.00 to 12.30, or at the discretion of the Highway Authority or its agents. Roads will reopen when it is deemed safe to do so.
1. KING HENRY I STREET (From 09:30 – 10:30)
In its entirety.
2. COMMERCIAL ROAD (From 11:00 – 11:40)
From its junction with Isambard Brunel Road and Guildhall Square to its junction with Edinburgh Road.
3. EDINBURGH ROAD (From 11:00 – 12:00)
From its junction with Commercial Road to its junction with Bishop Crispian Way.
4. BISHOP CRISPIAN WAY (WESTBOUND ONLY) (From 11:30 – 12:30)
From its junction with Edinburgh Road to its junction with Alfred Road.
REASON FOR THE ORDER
The above restrictions are necessary for the safe passage of the Freedom of the City Parade.
DIVERSION
Vehicles and cycles to use local alternatives or follow the parade. Roads will be re-opened after the parade has passed.
