Portsmouth City Council (Great South Run) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and Loading) (No.166) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994.
The Order comes into operation from 13th October 2025 to facilitate the Great South Run Junior and 5k events on Saturday 18th October 2025 and the Great South Run event on Sunday 19th October 2025 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING
From 06:00 on Monday 13th October 2025 until 17:00 on Monday 20th October 2025:

From Avenue de Caen to junction with Jack Cockerill Way (west of entrance to Pyramids Car Park).
From 08:00 on Friday 17th October until 18:00 on Sunday 19th October 2025:

In its entirety. (No vehicle access onto Clarence Parade. Vehicle egress only via Netley Road).
D) TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF NO WAITING RESTRICTION
From 06:00 to 20:00 on Sunday 19th October 2025:
CLARENCE PIER ROAD
From its junction with Clarence Pier Road Footpath Across Southsea Common Leading To Clarence Parade for 10 metres west.
E) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate Great South Run, 5k and Junior run events..
F) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 06:00 on Monday 13th October 2025 until 17:00 on Monday 20th October 2025 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner.
G) DIVERSION
HGV and local diversions will be signposted and marshalled on all roads approaching the route. Road closures will be lifted along the route when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the event.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the event.
