Portsmouth City Council (Castle Road Markets) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Suspension of Loading Restriction) (No.85) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994.
The Order comes into operation from 23rd May 2026 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF WAITING
CASTLE ROAD
From outside No. 67 to outside No. 87.
B) TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF NO LOADING (BETWEEN 16:30 AND 18:00)

From outside No. 67 to outside No. 87.
C) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE (NO ACCESS FOR CYCLES OR VEHICLES, EXCEPT FOR LOADING FOR THE EVENT BETWEEN 8:00 – 10:30 AND 16:30 – 18:00)

From outside No. 67 to outside No. 87.
D) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate the Castle Road markets.
E) DURATION OF THE ORDER
Castle Road Community Association Antiques Market: From 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 23rd May 2026 and 08:00 to 18:00 on Sunday 24th May 2026 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above the market will take place between 10:30 and 16:30.
Castle Road Community Association Food Market: From 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 27th June 2026 and 08:00 to 18:00 on Sunday 28th June 2026 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above the market will take place between 10:30 and 16:30.
Castle Road Community Association General Market: From 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 12th September 2026 and 08:00 to 18:00 on Sunday 13th September 2026 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above the market will take place between 10:30 and 16:30.
Castle Road Community Association Christmas Market: From 08:00 to 18:00 on Saturday 28th November 2026 and 08:00 to 18:00 on Sunday 29th November 2026 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above the market will take place between 10:30 and 16:30.
F) DIVERSION
No through road. Cycles to follow diversion or dismount.
Cycles will be diverted from Castle Road – Southsea Terrace – Bellevue Terrace – Hambrook Street – Castle Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the event.
