Portsmouth City Council (Local Carriageway Resurfacing) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.95) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 1st August 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
VICTORIA AVENUE
From its junction with Bellevue Terrace to Pembroke Road.
Diversion: Pembroke Road, Gordon Road, Duisburg Way Roundabout, Pier Road, Bellevue Terrace and vice versa.
CROXTON ROAD
From its junction with Victoria Avenue to Bellevue Terrace.
Diversion: As for Victoria Avenue.
NEW ROAD EAST
From its junction with New Road to Copnor Road.
Diversion: Copnor Road, New Road and Copnor Road, Queens Road, Kingston Road, New Road.
MILE END ROAD
Rudmore Roundabout to Havisham Road.
Diversion: Rudmore Roundabout, Kingston Crescent, Kingston Road, Fratton Road, Fratton Bridge Roundabout, Victoria Road North, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Arundel Street Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Lake Road, Cornmill Street Roundabout, Cornmill Street, Market Way Roundabout, Commercial Road, Church Street
Roundabout, Mile End Road.
HERBERT STREET FOOTPATHS AND CYCLEWAYS LEADING TO MILE END ROAD AND SULTAN ROAD
In its entirety.
Pedestrian and Cycle Diversion: Old Commercial Road Footpath Side Of 399 Leading To Underpass, Old Commercial Road, Old Commercial Road Footpath At South End Leading To Church Street, Church Street Roundabout, Mile End Road (shared footpath and cycleway) and vice versa.
NORTHERN ROAD
From its junction with Portsbridge Roundabout to Medina Road Roundabout.
Diversion: Portsbridge Roundabout, Western Road, Southampton Road, Spur Road Roundabout, Northern Road and vice versa, and Portsmouth Road, High Street Vectis Way, Wootton Street, Wayte Street.
CLARENCE PARADE
From its junction with Serpentine Way to Duisburg Way.
Diversion: Osborne Road, Clarendon Road and Clarence Parade, South Parade, St Helens Parade, Eastern Parade, St Georges Road, Cromwell Road, Eastney Roundabout, Eastney Road, Goldsmith Avenue, Fratton Way Roundabout, Goldsmith Avenue, Fratton Bridge Roundabout, Victoria Road North, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Winston Churchill Avenue, Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout, Winston Churchill Avenue, Lord Montgomery Way, Hampshire Terrace, Landport Terrace, Kings Road Roundabout, Kings Terrace, Jubilee Terrace, Bellevue Terrace, Pier Road, Duisburg Way and vice versa.
DUISBURG WAY
From its junction with Clarence Parade for 100 metres.
Diversion: Western Parade, Southsea Terrace.
CROMWELL ROAD
From its junction with Highland Road to Adair Road.
Diversion: Highland Road, Albert Road, Waverley Road, The Strand Roundabout, Clarendon Road, South Parade, St Helens Parade, Eastern Parade, St George Road.
TANGIER ROAD
From its junction with Cooper Road to Silchester Road.
Diversion: Tangier Road, Milton Road, Copnor Road, Burrfields Road, Burrfields Road Roundabout, Burrfields Road, Eastern Road, Tangier Road and vice versa.
B) TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF BUS LANE RESTRICTIONS
NORTHERN ROAD BUS LANE AT SOUTH END LEADING TO PORTSBRIDGE ROUNDABOUT
From its junction with Portsmouth Road to Portsbridge Roundabout.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate local carriageway resurfacing works.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 1st August 2024 to 31st July 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of each works taking place. The suspension of the bus lane on Northern Road to run concurrently with works on Northern Road only.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted as detailed above for each road closure.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
