Portsmouth City Council (Clarence Esplanade) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.135) Order 2024
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) and Section 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (The Act), as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 21st October 2024 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
CLARENCE ESPLANADE
From its junction with Clarence Pier Road to west of its entrance into the Pyramids Car Park.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate Southsea Flood Defence Scheme works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 21st October 2024 to 28th August 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
The time-limit of eighteen months in subsection (1) of The Act shall not apply to an order made for the reason mentioned in section 14(1)(a) of this Act as Portsmouth City Council are satisfied, that the execution of the works in question will take longer; but in any such case the authority shall revoke the order as soon as the works are completed
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Clarence Esplanade, Pier Road Roundabout, Pier Road, Duisburg Way Roundabout, Duisburg Way, Clarence Parade, Jack Cockerill Way.
Access will be maintained between Pyramids Car Park and Serpentine Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
