If there are parking restrictions outside your property
Pay and display zones
We can’t install bays in pay and display zones, but Blue Badge holders can park there for free.
Resident parking zones
If you live in a resident parking zone, we may still be able to provide a bay outside the property.
Limited waiting restriction
If you have a limited wait restriction outside your property, we may still be able to provide a bay outside. It depends on the reason why the limited wait restriction is in place. Contact us and we can check if your road qualifies for a disabled parking bay.
Other parking restrictions (double yellow lines or a bus stop)
You can apply for a disabled parking bay, but we may have to turn down your application. If needed, we’ll check if there’s another nearby location where we could install a disabled bay instead.
If you have off-street parking (a driveway or garage)
If parked vehicles prevent you from using it
We do not usually install bays in these cases. You could apply for a white entrance bar marking instead. If you don’t use your driveway/garage and the access isn’t shared, we might place the bay across the dropped kerb.
If someone blocks your dropped kerb, you can call our Traffic Management Centre. An officer may issue a Penalty Charge Notice to the vehicle.
If your disability prevents you from using it
You can apply for a disabled parking bay. We rarely approve bays for homes with off-street parking, but there can be exceptional circumstances.
When you apply for a disabled parking bay, please provide as much information as possible about your off-street parking situation and why you’re unable to use it.
