Help when you need it, so you can live safely and independently

As we get older or become unwell, it can be harder to manage on our own. You or your family might worry about staying safe at home, especially if you live alone.

That’s where Safe at Home can help. This service connects you to support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – giving you peace of mind and helping you stay independent.

How it works

You wear a personal alarm, like a pendant or wristband. If you need help, just press the button. Some equipment can even raise the alarm automatically – for example, if you fall and can’t press the button.

The alarm goes to a monitoring centre, where staff will know which device was triggered and send help quickly.

What’s included

We want you to feel safe and supported, with no hidden costs. The service includes:

  • Equipment that suits your needs
  • Installation and a full demonstration
  • A key safe fitted if needed
  • Help if you’re having trouble using the equipment
  • Free, fast repairs and replacements
  • 24-hour response service if required

Who can use it

Technology-enabled care is available to anyone living in the PO1 to PO6 postcode areas, or if you pay council tax to Portsmouth City Council. It’s for people of any age.

Visit the Safe at Home website to learn more about the service and the technology-enabled care packages available.
