The Portsmouth Pop Up shop scheme gives local businesses a chance to trade in a high street location without the cost or commitment of a longer-term lease. The scheme is a partnership between the council, Cascades and Flude.
You can apply to rent the pop-up shop in Cascades Shopping Centre in the city centre for a minimum of 13 weeks. It’s a good opportunity to engage with customers and launch your product or service.

Trading hours
Trading must take place during core hours: 10am-4pm. Normal Sunday trading laws apply.
Licence duration and fees
Pop-up shop licences run for a minimum of 13 weeks. You can extend your licence up to 6 months.
The scheme offers discounted rates for the initial 13 weeks to help new businesses get started. The fee (payable in advance) includes rent, service charge, electricity and basic insurance. Business rates are based on the unit size and location. Discounts may apply depending on the unit’s rateable value and the type of activity taking place as part of the scheme.
Insurance requirement
The pop-up shop occupant is responsible for insuring all contents, fixtures, and fittings. You must also have all necessary insurance relating to your activity, including public liability insurance to the value of £5 million.
