Located in the Guildhall, the Lord Mayor’s Banqueting Suite offers a selection of elegant, stylish and unique reception rooms for both corporate and private events.
The suite provides both grand and intimate settings – ideal for corporate drinks receptions, office parties, private dinners, or banquets.
Venue spaces
The suite has three rooms – the Lord Mayor’s Banqueting room, the Lady Mayoress’ Parlour and the Lord Mayor’s ante-chamber. They can be hired individually, or combined to create a more versatile event space.
All rooms are fully licensed. Our experienced hospitality and events team is on hand to offer advice and a personal touch to make your event special.
The Banqueting Room
An elegant grand room with stylish mirrored features, stunning chandeliers, and a grand piano for musical occasions – one of the most sumptuous venues available for hire in Portsmouth. This historic venue has hosted monarchs, heads of state and celebrities.
The room seats 120 for dinner, or 146 for ceremonies.
Lady Mayoress’ Parlour
The smaller, but magnificent room provides a perfect venue for an intimate reception for 60, or an elegant dinner for up to 24.
Lord Mayor’s ante-chamber
A stylish room with high ceilings that exudes grandeur, adorned with gilt finishes and a stunning stained glass window.
It’s the ideal venue for a drinks reception of up to 60 guests. Your guests can wander past the rarely seen treasures, including the Royal Charters, the three Maces, and an impressive collection of rare and historical artefacts dating back to the 12th century.
Catering
Catering is available and provided by the Guildhall Trust. Options range from light lunches to formal dining, tailored to your event.
Weddings and ceremonies
