Closer ties are being made between councils in the south of Hampshire and the county’s newly formed combined authority with Dr Ruth Adams set to take on a new role.
As chief executive of Hampshire and The Solent Combined County Authority, Dr Adams has been invited to join the joint committee of Partnership for South Hampshire (PfSH).
PfSH is a partnership of 11 councils around the Solent that aim to improve the environmental, cultural and economic performance of the South Hampshire area.
Cllr Keith House, chair of the Partnership for South Hampshire, said:
“We invited Ruth to join us because the combined county authority is an important opportunity to strengthen strategic collaboration and our partnership has the same goal.
“It will be hugely beneficial to hear first-hand the priorities the new authority has across Hampshire and The Solent and help us align work across our area to get the best possible outcome for our residents, businesses and communities.”
Dr Ruth Adams, chief executive of Hampshire and The Solent Combined County Authority, said: “It is great that we will be working closely with the Partnership for South Hampshire and can only benefit our region. Having a direct link to local councils and other partners through such an established and successful forum will significantly help us strengthen relationships as the combined county authority increases its work across Hampshire and The Solent.”
Dr Adams will be a co-opted member of the joint committee meaning she, or a representative, will attend meetings and participate in conversations to share information and views but will not take part in formal votes.
