Day services offer activities, personal care, and the chance to meet new people.

We commission day services in the city and provide two council-run day services. You can only access these services if you’ve had a care needs assessment and been identified as having ‘eligible needs’.

  • SensePlus Portsmouth – SensePlus Portsmouth is the council-run day service for adults with multiple learning disabilities who also have complex physical or sensory needs.
  • Royal Albert Day Centre – The Royal Albert Day Centre is our service offering activities for adults aged 65+ with a dementia diagnosis in Portsmouth.

Other services

There are other day services for people with less complex needs, which you can find a directory of on the HIVE Portsmouth website. These include:

  • Creative Advances
  • Make
  • GoCreate
  • Minstead Trust
  • Right to work
  • Chaos – Choice Health Aspiration Opportunity Support

How we commission services

Learning Disability (LD) Day Opportunity services are provided through an approved framework of organisations. These providers have met the Council’s quality and financial standards.

We are looking for providers who can deliver Learning Disability day services that support our outcomes for health, independence, community inclusion and employment.

The framework is currently open. New and existing providers can apply to add suitable services every six months, by 31 March or 30 September.

You can find full details by registering on our In‑Tend system.
