Community equipment is provided free of charge, to support you to stay living at home independently, reducing the need to go into hospital or a care home. It can also be provided when you return home after a stay in hospital.

Examples of the types of equipment we may be able to loan to you are:

  • Commodes
  • Perching stools
  • Pressure cushions
  • Bathing equipment such as shower stools
  • In bed positioning sheets

Our provider

Community equipment in Portsmouth is supplied by Millbrook Healthcare.

They:

  • Deliver, collect, and maintain equipment issued by health and care professionals
  • Support people with disabilities or health conditions to stay independent at home or in a care setting
  • Provide technical advice and support

Ordering equipment

Only authorised clinical practitioners such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists and nurses can order community equipment. Your client must have received a needs assessment.

To order community equipment, you need a community equipment service (CES) personal identification number (PIN).

Returning equipment

Any equipment that is no longer needed should be returned to Millbrook. 

You can either return the equipment to the warehouse yourself or arrange collection by contacting Millbrook.

Privacy notice for people prescribed equipment

Portsmouth City Council will provide Millbrook Healthcare with information about you at the point you are prescribed equipment. Your information will be held by Millbrook on behalf of the council and will only be used for the purposes of providing the equipment service.
