Council teams, including community wardens and seafront rangers, work closely with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and other partners to help keep the area safe.
Anti-social behaviour can include things like:
- noise nuisance
- aggressive or intimidating behaviour
- criminal damage
- improper parking, such as parking on double yellow lines and blocking entrances
- dangerous use of any vehicle, including cycling and e-scooters
During the busier spring and summer months, we work with partners as part of Operation Nautical, a coordinated approach to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour along the seafront.
Operation Nautical brings together the council, police and other partners to:
- increase patrols in busy areas such as Southsea seafront, the Common and Old Portsmouth
- act early to prevent problems and support people where needed
- take action where behaviour becomes unacceptable
It covers key areas along the seafront and is designed to make sure everyone can enjoy the space safely.
We also work with the Portsmouth Mediation Service to support communities and help resolve issues early. This includes restorative work that brings people together, such as community events and engagement activities, helping to build understanding and reduce conflict.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For less urgent issues, please call 10 or report issues online.
You can report antisocial behaviour to Portsmouth City Council. You can also report issues to the police, or our teams of seafront rangers and community wardens.
