About the project

Portsmouth Homes is carrying out a major planned maintenance project at Ladywood House to improve building safety, modernise facilities, and enhance residents’ living experience. This work aligns with our responsibilities under the Building Safety Act 2022 and aims to reduce risks while ensuring compliance with new safety regulations.

Key improvements include:

  • fire safety upgrades – new fire-resistant windows where required and replacement property entrance and communal doors
  • renovations – full bathroom refurbishments and improved communal areas
  • accessibility – new warden call system
  • building safety works – asbestos removal and new ventilation

Where we are now

We’re in the early planning stage. Although work is not due to start until late 2026, we are speaking with residents now so you can help shape the improvements to your home – including choosing the colours for your new bathroom.

Resident engagement sessions took place in October 2025. View the presentation we shared with residents.

One-to-one meetings are being arranged. You can book one by emailing cro.somerstown@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
