It’s not currently possible to update your details online. We hope to have this option in the future. On this page you’ll find out how to make changes to your permit if your circumstances change.

If your vehicle has changed

You can change the registration on a permit online. You will need to provide evidence of ownership (vehicle registration document, new keepers slip, sales invoice, etc.).

It costs £10 to change details on a permit.

Once you have received your updated V5C in the permit holder’s name at the permit address, please email this to us at parking.permits@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

If you have a residents permit, you can change the vehicle for a resident parking permit online, or apply by post and include a copy of your documentation.

If you have a business permit, email parking.permits@portsmouthcc.gov.uk with ‘change of vehicle‘ in the subject line.

If your address has changed

Please email parking.permits@portsmouthcc.gov.uk in advance with:

  • the permit number or vehicle registration number
  • the date you are leaving the address

The permit team will then cancel the permit. You will need to apply for a new permit for your new address, even if you are moving within the same permit zone.

You’ll also need to let the DVLA know of your change of address on GOV.UK. Once received, please send a copy to us for your new permit.

If you move to an area that also has a parking zone

If you move to an area that also has a parking zone, you’ll need to apply for a new permit at the new address. To do this, you’ll need to send your V5c (log book) and proof of your new address via the Parking Permit Portal.

If you’re moving to a new address within the same parking zone, you still need to follow this process.

You’ll also need to let the DVLA know. You’ll need to send them your V5c (log book) to update the address. You’ll have six weeks to send us a copy of the updated V5c or we will cancel your permit.
