Use our bulky waste collection service
If you pay your Council Tax to Portsmouth City Council, we can collect larger household items from your home and dispose of them.
If you receive Council Tax support, you can get one free collection in any rolling 12-month period.
Donate, reuse or sell
If your family or friends do not want the items, you can:
- donate it to charity, such as Sue Ryder, the British Heart Foundation, and DEBRA (some offer free collections)
- offer it online through Freecycle, Freegle and other online marketplace apps, or advertise it in a local shop or free ad newspaper
- sell it to a local second hand furniture company
Your responsibilities
You must make sure your waste is disposed of safely and legally. You need to check that anyone taking your waste has a waste carrier’s licence by searching their business name or address. They should give you written information about how they will dispose of your waste.
If you ask someone to take your waste and they dump it illegally, you are responsible. You could go to court and be fined up to £5,000.
