Business Companion is a free website with information on trading standards and consumer protection legislation. It covers a wide range of topics and is regularly updated, including changes to legislation since the UK left the EU.
Buy With Confidence
Buy With Confidence is the UK’s largest trader approval scheme run by local authority. Approved business can display the ‘Trading Standards Approved’ logo.
To join, a business must commit to the scheme’s code of conduct and complete a thorough vetting process. Find out how to join.
Primary Authority Partnerships
Primary Authority is a government-backed scheme that gives your business tailored advice on how to comply with trading standards, environmental health and fire safety legislation.
This helps start-ups get things right from the beginning and allow all businesses to invest confidently in products, practices, and procedures, knowing that the resources they devote to compliance are well spent.
Any business can set up a Primary Authority Partnership (PAP) with us. The costs vary depending on the support required, including:
- contract preparation
- application process via the OPSS register
- on-going communication and support for the application process
- a ‘familiarisation and needs analysis’ meeting with your nominated contact officer(s)
