The seafront hosts a wide range of events throughout the year, from large international events to smaller community activities. These bring energy, visitors and investment into the city, helping support local businesses and Portsmouth’s wider economy.
We aim to offer a mix of events, including:
- free events that everyone can enjoy, such as Armed Forces Day, and the Kite Festival
- ticketed events that attract major acts and audiences, such as Victorious and SailGP
- community and cultural activities that reflect the city, like Live at the Bandstand
What this means for visitors
To host events safely, some areas of the seafront may need to be temporarily closed or restricted while events are set up and take place.
We understand this can be inconvenient, and we work to:
- keep closures to the minimum area and time needed
- provide advance notice wherever possible
- maintain access along the seafront where it is safe to do so
Balancing impact and benefits
While there may be short-term disruption, events help to:
- bring significant economic benefits to the city
- support local jobs and businesses
- create a vibrant, varied seafront offer for residents and visitors
We carefully plan and manage events to balance these benefits with the needs of people who use the seafront every day.
