This Friday, 9 August, Alderman Lacey Library will be celebrating its 60th birthday. The event has been organised by Portsmouth City Council library service and will see an array of exciting activities running throughout the day from 10am to 4pm.
The event will offer activities for families and children including a treasure hunt, craft workshops, storytelling sessions, visits from your favourite characters, along with a display of images of the Baffins Library throughout it’s 60-year history. The mobile library will also be in attendance.
Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council said: “Many congratulations to Alderman Lacey Library on celebrating 60 years. We are very pleased to see such an exciting line up of activities for all the family to enjoy on Friday. If you can, do take the time to pay a visit and get involved.”
What’s on:
- 10am: Rhyme time
- 10.30am: Sherlock Holmes craft activity – make your own deerstalker hat
- 11am: Highway Rat story time, plus a visit from the Highway Rat
- 12 noon: Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress speech and cutting the birthday cake
- 1-3pm: Three 20-minute story times with the Merry Go Round storyteller
- 3pm: Highway Rat story time, plus a visit from the Highway Rat
