Buses run often across Portsmouth and to nearby areas. Two companies run the buses: Stagecoach and First Bus.
You may be able to get free bus travel in Portsmouth with a concessionary pass.
If you are disabled, you can apply for a pass for free travel any time.
If you live in Portsmouth and are over state pension age, you can apply for a pass for free travel from 9am to 2am on weekdays, and all day at weekends and bank holidays.
If you need someone to help you when you travel, you can apply for a companion pass.
The Portsmouth BSIP aims to make bus services much better. The council and local bus companies Stagecoach South and First Solent are working together. The plan has £48 million from the Department for Transport.
We have put more than 200 Real Time Information (RTI) units at bus stops across the city. These show when buses will arrive, using GPS to track the buses.
The screens show a countdown and can also speak the times for people with sight loss.
Pompey Link is a bookable bus service between Paulsgrove and Port Solent. You can also travel between Port Solent and Queen Alexandra Hospital and Cosham Interchange, to connect with other buses and train services.

This is a trial service running until March 2027.
Portsmouth Park & Ride lets you park outside the city and take the PR1 bus to the city centre, Gunwharf Quays, Spinnaker Tower, Historic Dockyard and The Hard Interchange.
The PR1 runs every 15 minutes.
In summer, the PR3 service runs to Clarence Pier at weekends.
National Express runs long-distance coaches from The Hard Interchange in Portsea, next to Portsmouth Harbour train station.
