Rights of Way orders and applications

Portsmouth City Council keeps a register of applications to change the official map of public rights of way. This helps landowners, path users and the public see what changes might happen.

To apply to create, change or remove a public right of way, email rightsofway@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

In your email, include:

  • what you’re applying for (create, divert, modify or remove a path)
  • the location of the path
  • why you’re applying

Improving public access

The Hampshire Countryside Access Forum gives advice on how rights of way and access land should be managed and maintained. It supports Hampshire County Council, Southampton City Council, and Portsmouth City Council, as well as government bodies and user groups.

The forum meets four times a year. Members of the public are welcome to attend, ask questions or share their views.
