How we maintain Portsmouth's roads, pavements and highway Network
Portsmouth City Council is responsible for maintaining the city's highway network, including roads, footways, cycleways, street lighting, traffic signals, drainage systems, bridges and other highway assets.
Maintenance is delivered through a long-term Highways PFI contract which combines inspections, routine maintenance, planned renewals and asset management activities. The contract supports a planned and preventative approach to maintaining assets in good condition and providing a safe and reliable network for residents, businesses and visitors.
This report explains the condition of Portsmouth's roads, how potholes and defects are managed, what is spent on highway maintenance and the work planned for the coming year.
