To get a leisure card, you must:
- receive an eligible benefit
- live in PO1 to PO6 (or live in PO7 and pay Council Tax to Portsmouth City Council)
Eligible benefits
You can apply if you receive one of the following:
- Universal Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Support (not including statutory 25% single persons discount)
- Pension Credit (guarantee credit element only)
- foster carers with foster children (use the online application form and upload a signed letter from your supervising social worker as evidence)
- asylum seekers (you will need your Asylum Support Reference Number supplied by Portsmouth City of Sanctuary)
Children and young people applying independently
You can apply independently if you are:
- aged 16 to 18 and a Child We Care For (you will need evidence from your supervising social worker to apply)
- aged 16 to 18 and an asylum-seeking child (you will need evidence from your supervising social worker to apply)
- care experienced, aged 16 to 25, and have a personal advisor in the supporting your future team (you will need a supporting letter from your personal advisor to apply)
How to apply
If you live in:
- PO1 to PO6 – apply online for each person in your household
- PO7 – email culturalservices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for help with your application
If you cannot complete the online form or need help, email culturalservices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or call 023 9268 8797.
You need to upload evidence of the eligible benefits. Please ensure any evidence submitted clearly states your name, address and is dated within the current financial year, otherwise we can’t process your application.
Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll verify it and send your leisure card by post.
You can apply for additional cards for those living within your household.
The leisure card is valid for the named individual for 12 months. You’ll need to renew it when it expires.
