Somers Orchard Community Garden

Somers Orchard Community Garden is a welcoming community space in Somerstown where people can learn new skills, grow their own food and enjoy time outdoors. Opened in 2024 as part of the Somers Orchard housing project, the garden provides opportunities to get involved in gardening and connect with the local community.

What the garden offers

The garden includes:

  • raised growing beds where residents can grow fruit and vegetables
  • a polytunnel for growing plants from seed
  • seating and picnic areas to relax and enjoy the outdoors
  • garden huts that can be used for quiet reading or study
  • a friendly environment where residents can learn gardening skills and meet others

Get involved

There are opportunities to volunteer and help look after the garden so it can continue to be enjoyed by the local community. Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, spend time outdoors and meet local people.

Growing beds

The garden has raised beds available for residents who would like to grow their own fruit and vegetables. A waiting list is available when all beds are in use.
