Ladywood House building safety improvements

Updates and information on building improvement works at Ladywood House.

About the project

Portsmouth Homes is carrying out a major planned maintenance project at Ladywood House to improve building safety, modernise facilities, and enhance residents’ living experience. This work aligns with our responsibilities under the Building Safety Act 2022 and aims to reduce risks while ensuring compliance with new safety regulations.

Key improvements include:

  • fire safety upgrades - new fire-resistant windows where required and replacement property entrance and communal doors
  • renovations - full bathroom refurbishments and improved communal areas
  • accessibility - removal of warden call system
  • building safety works - asbestos removal and new ventilation

Resident engagement

We are committed to keeping residents informed and involved.

You can:

  • attend drop-in sessions and one-to-one meetings
  • receive regular updates via letters, notice boards, and visits
  • choose the finishes for your new bathroom

Project timeline

Please note timelines are subject to change.

Key dates

  • Autumn 2025 to Autumn 2026 - site surveys and design development
  • October 2026 - Building Safety Regulator application
  • Spring 2027 - works due to start (subject to Building Safety Regulator approval)
  • Spring 2029 - estimated project completion

Where we are now

We’re in the detailed design phase and will be able to submit the required application to the Building Safety Regulator in the early Autumn. The Building Safety Regulator determination period could take longer than anticipated so we are working towards starting on site late Spring 2027.
