On 14 July 2026, Full Council agreed the timetable for creating the Future Portsmouth Plan. The local plan timetable first took effect from that date. The timetable has now been reviewed and updated, taking effect from 14 August 2026. The timetable will be reviewed further each month and updated as appropriate.
The timetable sets out the timeframe for the preparation of the new Local Plan, in line with the government’s new 30-month local plan process and associated guidance. It will also be available to view in person at the Council’s Civic Offices and at the following libraries in Portsmouth: Central Library, Cosham Library, Carnegie (Fratton Library), and Southsea Library.
Our local plan timetable contains the information below and will be updated whenever the timetable is changed and when milestones have been met. The data meets the government’s statutory data standards and is provided under the Open Government Licence.
