From 1 April 2025 the council has new powers to charge a premium of up to 100% on second homes. For Council Tax, second homes are places that are substantially furnished but are not someone’s sole or main residence.
The council will charge the highest extra fee of 100% for second homes starting April 1, 2025. This means the Council Tax for second homes will be twice as much.
