Is your child living with someone else? Do you know a child who isn’t living at home?
If a child is staying with someone who isn’t a close family member (like a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or step-parent by marriage) for more than 28 days, you must let us know. This is to help keep the child safe and well.
There are many reasons why a child might live with someone else, such as:
- parents splitting up
- a parent working or studying far away
- a child from another country staying with friends or family in the UK
This is called private fostering, and the law says we must be told about it.
