Do you know a person or group that makes a real difference? An unsung hero pulling everything together at your club or school, perhaps a charity or group that supports people near you? Then it’s time to nominate them for a Portsmouth Civic Award.

Portsmouth City Council has been running the Civic Awards for over 20 years, and each year multiple awards are given out to organisations as well as individuals.

There’s also a Young Person’s Civic Award, open for nominations for those aged 11 to 19 – it could be a positive role model to others, or someone committed to helping other young people.

Leader Cllr Steve Pitt said:

“Our Civic Awards recognise people and organisations that have shown exemplary service to their community, voluntary sector or people outside of their family.

“You might know someone who works tirelessly to fundraise for charity, an organisation that supports those less fortunate, or a young person who does lots for their school or community. Please do nominate them for an award.”

To nominate please email lordmayorsoffice@portsmouthcc.gov.uk and ask for a nomination form or call 02392 834706. The deadline for nominations is 28 February 2025.

The winners are selected by a panel of Group Leaders, the Lord Mayor, Deputy Lord Mayor and a representative from the business and voluntary community.

Winners will be announced that the mayor-making ceremony on Tuesday 13 May 2025.
