A special small business “taster” market will take place in Portsmouth city centre on Saturday 7 December, as part of the national Small Business Saturday campaign.
A curated selection of local entrepreneurs will showcase their unique products at the Small Business Taster Market, located on Commercial Road. Visitors can expect to find a variety of offerings, including edible bouquets, handcrafted local beers, kombucha, locally designed clothing, and handmade cards.
Small business owner Janine Eales from Im-Press Printing said:
‘I am so pleased to be involved in the Small Business Saturday Market which will promote what we do and give us an opportunity to showcase our printed products. It will also help us test whether a future market presence is right for our business”
Cllr Steve Pitt Leader of the Council with responsibility for Economic Development said:
“We want to help support our businesses to grow in Portsmouth and offer opportunities to enliven our high street shopping experience. Our small businesses offer fantastic value and quality. Plus, spending money locally helps our smaller businesses to survive and protects local jobs.
“This taster market is a fantastic opportunity for a selection of start-up businesses to develop and for residents to discover some great local businesses. I urge all to support them “
To encourage residents to support local businesses Portsmouth City Council is also working with local bus companies First Solent and Stagecoach South to offer free bus local high street businesses.
Small Business Saturday UK is grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
