Portsmouth City Council’s Community Learning Service has been praised by Ofsted for its strong support for residents, particularly those facing barriers to education and employment.
The latest inspection highlights The Learning Place as delivering a strong standard for inclusion, recognising the work to help learners build skills, confidence and move into employment or further education.
Across other areas, the service achieved the expected standard, reflecting a high and consistent level of delivery.
The report also identified one area for development in participation and development. The team has already begun work to strengthen this area and will continue to build on feedback from inspectors, with a planned re-assessment in the coming months.
Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of the Council, with responsibility for Economic Development, said:
“We’re proud that Ofsted has recognised the strength of our inclusive approach and what the team at The Learning Place delivers for Portsmouth residents every day. “We take all feedback seriously and we’re continuing to strengthen the service so it can reach even more people and support residents to achieve their potential.”
