Residents can benefit from free energy efficiency upgrades to reduce energy bills. If your annual household income is £36,000 or less, and you don’t rely on a gas boiler to heat your home, you can apply.
Applications close soon, and are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s best to apply as soon as possible.
Mr Mansbridge received an air source heat pump through the scheme:
“I never bothered using electric heaters before as they didn’t heat my home properly and were too expensive to run. Since having my air source heat pump installed, last winter was the most comfortable I’ve been during the colder periods. My home is now warm, and only costs around £2-3 a day to have the heating on constantly, so I could keep it at a comfortable temperature. The heating also dramatically reduced the amount of mould in my home, which was a huge bonus”.
“The application for Warmer Homes was really easy. I’m really happy with the outcome, and recommend others make use of this scheme.”

An assessment of your home will be made to check where you can have solar panels, air source heat pumps, or insulation. If eligible, you can benefit from these upgrades at no cost.
Councillor Kimberly Barrett, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Greening the City said:
“As applications are coming to a close in October, get in contact with the team or go online to make sure you can make the most of the scheme before the cold weather hits. If you don’t think you are eligible, the team can refer you to other schemes that are available to reduce energy bills over time, and make your home greener.”
