For English Tourism Week (14-23 March), we’re shouting about the amazing things to do in Portsmouth, some special offers on attractions, and getting ready for an incredible summer of events.

Tourism is the lifeblood of the city, supporting 12,589 local jobs and generating over £720m in tourism spend from 12.4m annual visitors.
Portsmouth City Council works to enhance the tourism sector as Visit Portsmouth, and during the week is hosting local businesses at Portsmouth International Port to explore new ways to maximise the visitor economy.
An English Tourism Week 2025 webpage has been created on the Visit Portsmouth website, where people can find some amazing offers, including:
- The D-Day Story – 25% discount on admission for Portsmouth residents
- Spinnaker Tower – 30% discount on adult all-day admission
- Hovertravel – 25% off for up to four passengers
- Plus discounted theatre tickets and an offer on Mother’s Day lunch
Visit Portsmouth is the place to find out about Portsmouth’s exciting 2025 events programme. Portsmouth Armed Forces Day, Portsmouth International Kite Festival, Victorious and Southsea Food Festival are annual favourites attracting tens of thousands of people. And this summer there’s also three big international sailing events coming to Portsmouth shores – the Emirates Great Britain Sail GP, The Ocean Race Europe and the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Council Leader Cllr Steve Pitt, who is speaking at the tourism event, said:
“As the UK’s only island city, Portsmouth really does have something for everyone. World-class attractions, a huge programme of events, stunning coastline, fantastic shopping, great evening entertainment and lots of places to stay, eat and drink.
“We want people to enjoy living and visiting Portsmouth year round, and English Tourism Week is a great chance to showcase everything our great city has to offer.”
The event at the Port will also feature updates on the growth of the cruise market and launch a new guide for tourism businesses about working with the cruise industry. Businesses will be offered a free online training tool to support their growth.
