The city’s faith leaders came together to renew a partnership that champions community togetherness and understanding.
Together they discussed how to promote the big and bold plans in the city vision for where Portsmouth can be in 2040, and how to celebrate Portsmouth’s centenary year of city status in 2026.
Lots of positive ideas were shared, along with a commitment to meet regularly and build greater understanding of each other’s faiths.
Portsmouth City Council Leader Cllr Steve Pitt, who convened the meeting, said:
“It was wonderful to hear so much positivity and a strong commitment to deepen our relationships.
“Portsmouth was one of the first cities in the country to commit to City of Sanctuary status back in 2019, and our faith communities are a key part of working towards greater understanding of each other and how we all contribute to our city.”
