The hunt is again on to find people and organisations that go above and beyond for their community as nominations for this year’s Portsmouth Civic Awards open.

And this year for the first time people can nominate businesses that make a real difference.

Portsmouth City Council has run its Civic Awards for over 20 years, and multiple awards are handed out to individuals and groups that work tirelessly to improve their local area and the people that live there.

There’s also a Young Person’s Civic Award for those aged 11 to 19 to recognise a positive role model or someone dedicated to helping other young people.

Council Leader, Cllr Steve Pitt, said:

“The Civic Awards are our way of saying thank you to those who give their time, energy and passion to make Portsmouth a better place. Whether it’s a volunteer who never stops fundraising, a group supporting vulnerable residents, or a young person making a big impact in their school or community, we want to hear about them. Please take a few minutes to nominate someone who deserves recognition.”

To nominate, contact the Lord-Mayor’s office by email: lordmayorsoffice@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or phone 02392 834706 and a nomination form will be provided. All nominations are needed before the deadline of 28 February 2026.

The winners will be announced at the mayor-making ceremony in May.
