The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) allows local authorities to raise funds from developers who are undertaking new building projects in their area. The money can be used to pay for a wide range of infrastructure that is needed as a result of development, such as transport schemes, flood defences and green spaces.
This guide explains what CIL is, how it’s calculated and collected, and how it can be used. If you have any questions, please contact us at CIL@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
