Waiting lists
If your child did not get a place at your preferred school, they will be added to the waiting list for each refused school. You may be asked later if you want to stay on the waiting list – if you do not respond by the deadline, your child’s name will be removed.
Appeals
If your child has been refused a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal to an independent panel. You can only appeal if you’ve applied for the school and have been refused a place. You need to lodge your appeal by the deadline in your offer information.
Infant class size appeals
Appeals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are known as infant class size appeals. These appeals have restricted grounds set by law. In previous years, there have been no successful infant class size appeals for Portsmouth schools.
