Travel across Portsmouth with confidence thanks to the Travel Safe scheme. New dedicated Travel Safe Officers will ride selected bus routes at key times such as evenings and weekends. There is also a range of measures designed to support safe, comfortable and confident journeys by public transport.
Travel Safe Officers
Our Travel Safe Officers patrol selected bus routes, transport hubs and other busy transport locations. They will patrol especially during evenings and weekends. They aim to help people feel safe and encourage respectful behaviour. They work closely with our council teams, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and local transport operators. Information from our partners, passengers and communities helps our officers focus on areas that need their support.
We've also improved bus stops, shelters, lighting and CCTV, to make waiting areas safer.
Report antisocial behaviour
If you experience or see antisocial behaviour while travelling, please report it. Your reports help us find ongoing problems and decide where support is needed.
- Report antisocial behaviour to Portsmouth City Council
- Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger, property is at risk of being damaged, or a serious offence is happening or has happened.
- For non-emergency police matters, report the incident online to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary or call 101.

Become a Travel Safe Officer
We're recruiting Travel Safe Officers to provide a friendly, proactive and reassuring presence across the local transport network. The role involves:
- engaging with passengers and transport staff,
- responding to concerns, and
- helping to address behaviour that makes journeys feel less safe or welcoming.
