If a charging point is not working, you can report this to the relevant supplier to get it fixed. Check individual charge points to find out which company manages the charge point:

Unfortunately, a few electric vehicle charge points are temporarily out of order. We’re working with suppliers to resolve this as quickly as possible.
Electric charge points
On-street electric vehicle charge points
Whether you’re considering an electric vehicle to help improve air quality in the city and or you already have an EV to get around in a cleaner, greener way, we want to help make it easier for you to charge your vehicle near to your home. This supports our commitment towards creating cleaner air for our city and improving health for everyone who lives, works, visits and studies here.
Since 2019 we have installed a network of nearly 100 on-street residential charge points, thanks to funding from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
Our award-winning system uses a charging point housed inside a streetlamp column or slimline bollard, enabling you to safely charge your vehicle close to your home, on a pay-as-you-go basis. Portsmouth was one of the first local authorities in the UK to develop combined on-street charging from lamp columns, designated EV parking bays and ‘pay-as-you-go’ systems.
To charge your vehicle simply scan the QR code on the charge point to get started or use the supplier’s app to find the location. If you’re using a supplier’s app, you can follow the instructions to input your payment details and begin charging.
You can also use the QR code or visit the web address printed on the charge point to go to the supplier’s website where you can submit your payment details. The supplier’s name is identified by the information marked on the charge point.
Missing out? If you have an electric vehicle or plan to buy one soon you can register your interest for on-street charge point close to your home. We’ll review all requests and prioritise them based on whether a space can be used and whether other charging points are located nearby. Applications have now closed for the third phase of delivery, but you can still make a request that we can consider if more funding becomes available.
Once we’ve identified potential sites for the next phase, we will undertake a procurement process to secure a supplier who will then carry out technical surveys on the proposed sites. Any suitable locations will be taken forward to public consultation before they’re installed.
To register your interest for a charge point in your road please complete our online form. Or for any other enquiries about this scheme, please contact transportplan@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
New charge point installations
We’ve received many requests for residential charge points and we’re currently assessing over 380 new sites across the city. We’re delighted that residents are so supportive of this scheme.
Portsmouth is leading the way in charge point provision and was found to be the third most accessible city in the UK last year. This means that 59 per cent of residents now live within a five minute walk of a charge point.
We’re working with Office for Zero Emission vehicles to best use £3.682m funding that has been allocated to Portsmouth. We are hopeful to have confirmation of our plans in order to begin installing the next round of charge points soon.
