The Portsmouth City Council (University of Portsmouth Mardi Gras) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving) (No.218) Order 2023

Portsmouth City Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding in the roads and the lengths of roads set out below on Thursday 29th June 2023.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING (ROLLING CLOSURE)

From 18.00 to 19.30, or at the discretion of the Highway Authority or its agents. Roads will reopen when it is deemed safe to do so.

1. PEMBROKE ROAD
From its junction with Penny Street to its junction with Victoria Avenue.

2. VICTORIA AVENUE
From its junction with Pembroke Road to its junction with Bellevue Terrace.

3. BELLEVUE TERRACE
From its junction with Victoria Avenue to its junction with Hambrook Street.

4. HAMBROOK STREET
From its junction with Bellevue Terrace to its junction with Castle Road.

5. CASTLE ROAD
From its junction with Hambrook Street to its junction with St Edwards Road.

6. ST EDWARDS ROAD
From its junction with Castle Road to its junction with Queen’s Place.

7. QUEEN’S PLACE
From its junction with St Edwards Road to its junction with Queen’s Crescent.

8. QUEEN’S CRESCENT
From its junction with Queen’s Place to its junction with Kent Road.

9. KENT ROAD
From its junction with Queen’s Crescent to its junction with Castle Road.

10. CASTLE ROAD
From its junction with Kent Road to its junction with Hambrook Street.

11. HAMBROOK STREET
From its junction with Castle Road to its junction with Bellevue Terrace.

12. BELLEVUE TERRACE
From its junction with Hambrook Street to its junction with Victoria Avenue.

13. VICTORIA AVENUE
From its junction with Bellevue Terrace to its junction with Pembroke Road.

14. PEMBROKE ROAD
From its junction with Victoria Avenue to its junction with Penny Street.

REASON FOR THE ORDER
The above restrictions are necessary for the safe passage of the University of Portsmouth Mardi Gras event.

DIVERSION
A rolling road closure will be in place. Traffic will follow the parade and roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so.
