The Portsmouth City Council (Fireworks Event) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Footway Closure) (No.299) Order 2023

Portsmouth City Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding in the roads and the lengths of roads set out below on Wednesday 1st November 2023.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

From 08.00 to 20.00, or at the discretion of the Highway Authority or its agents. Roads will reopen when it is deemed safe to do so.

1. CLARENCE ESPLANADE
From west of the entrance to D-Day Car Park to the flood gate (west).

2. SERPENTINE WAY
From its junction with Clarence Esplanade to 200 metres north.

TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURE

From 08.00 to 20.00, or at the discretion of the Highway Authority or its agents. Roads will reopen when it is deemed safe to do so.

1. CLARENCE ESPLANADE
From the flood gate (east) to the flood gate (west).

2. SERPENTINE WAY
From its junction with Clarence Esplanade to 200 metres north.

REASON FOR THE ORDER
The above restrictions are necessary for the safety of pedestrians for the Fireworks Event.

DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Clarence Esplanade – Avenue de Caen – Clarence Parade – Duisburg Way – Pier Road – Clarence Esplanade and vice versa.
Pedestrians will be diverted around the closures.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
Roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so.
