THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION (SPECIAL EVENTS) ACT 1994
The Portsmouth City Council (Special Events) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving, Loading and Waiting) (No.48) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Portsmouth City Council, the Highway Authority, intends to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Portsmouth City Council is satisfied that traffic on the said roads should be prohibited for the purpose of facilitating the holding of the following events and proposes to make an Order, the effect of which is that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed, load or wait along the lengths of road for the times listed in the schedules of the full Order. Pedestrian and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times. The duration times in this Notice will be the maximum duration for each event. Actual times may be less and will be communicated by means of on-street notices 14 days prior to each event taking place, where required.
The Order will be in operation from 10th April 2022 and will continue in force until 6th November 2022 at the dates and times listed in schedule (i) and (ii) of the full order for the purpose of holding of events on the highway.

St Mary’s Palm Sunday Church Parade

From 09:30 to 10:00 on Sunday 10th April 2022
1. GEORGE STREET
From its junction with Ewart Road to its junction with Shearer Road.

2. SHEARER ROAD
From its junction with George Street to its junction with St Mary’s Road.

3. ST MARY’S ROAD
From its junction with Shearer Road to its junction with Woodland Street.
A rolling road closure will be in place. Traffic will follow the parade and roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so.

Paulsgrove and Wymering Carnival

From 10.00 to 17:00 on Saturday 25th June 2022

1. HEMPSTED ROAD
In its entirety.

2. ELKSTONE ROAD
Between Collington Crescent and Allaway Avenue

3. LUDLOW ROAD
Between Collington Crescent and Allaway Avenue.

ROLLING ROAD CLOSURE
(From 10:30am for a maximum of 15 minutes between any two junctions):

1. ALLAWAY AVENUE
Between the entrance to King Richard Secondary School to Walford Road.

2. WALFORD ROAD
Between Allaway Avenue to Ludlow Road.

3. LUDLOW ROAD
Between Walford Road to Hempsted Road.
The alternative route for normal traffic will be via Walford Road, Collington Crescent and Nailsworth Road.
Buses will be diverted from Elkstone Road to Woofferton Road and from Ludlow Road to Credenhill Road.
A rolling road closure will be in place along Allaway Avenue. Traffic will follow the parade and roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so.
