Portsmouth City Council (Portsea Carnival Parade) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving) (No.156) Order 2022

Portsmouth City Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding in the roads and the lengths of roads set out below on Saturday 13th August 2022 and the effect will be as follows:-

A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING (ROLLING ROAD CLOSURE)
From 1300 to 1400:
ST JAMES’S STREET In its entirety.

ST GEORGE’S WAY In its entirety.

BRITAIN STREET In its entirety.

ST GEORGE’S SQUARE From its junction with Britain Street to its junction with The Hard.

THE HARD From its junction with St George’s Square to its junction with Queen Street.

QUEEN STREET From its junction with The Hard to its junction with Aylward Street.

B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN
From 1300 to 1400 a rolling road closure will be in place. Roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so:

YORK PLACE
At its junction with Queen Street.

EXIT FROM HMS NELSON, LION GATE At its junction with Queen Street.

ALFRED ROAD At its junction with Queen Street.

C) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN
From 1300 to 1400. A rolling road closure will be in place. Roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so:
ST JAMES’S STREET At its junction with Queen Street.

LION TERRACE At its junction with Queen Street.

HMS NELSON WARD ROOM CAR PARK EXIT At its junction with Queen Street.

ANGLESEA ROAD At its junction with Queen Street.

D) REASON FOR THE ORDER
The above restrictions are necessary for the safe passage of the Portsea Carnival Parade.

E) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From Saturday 13th August 2022 from 1300 to 1400.

F) DIVERSION
A rolling road closure will be in place. Traffic will follow the parade and roads will be re-opened when considered safe to do so. Notwithstanding the above the rolling road closure will take approximately 15-20 minutes to pass between any two junctions along the route.
Pedestrian access will be maintained.
