Portsmouth City Council (Palmerston Road (South) and Villiers Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving, Loading and Waiting and One Way Revocation) (No.33) Order 2022

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has given a direction under section 15(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 for the above Order to be continuing in force for a further six months.

The Order came into operation on 15th February 2022 and the effect is as follows:-

A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND WAITING (EXCEPT FOR DELIVERIES BEFORE 11AM)

PALMERSTON ROAD (SOUTH)
From its junction with Auckland Road West to its junction with Villiers Road.

B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC

VILLIERS ROAD
From its junction with Palm Court to its junction with Palmerston Road (South).

PALMERSTON ROAD (SOUTH)
From its junction with Villiers Road to Osborne Road.

C) TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE WAY

VILLIERS ROAD
From The Vale to its junction with Palm Court.

D) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING

PALMERSTON ROAD (SOUTH)
From its junction with Auckland Road West to its junction with Villiers Road (except 20m south of Villiers Road on the east side).

VILLIERS ROAD
From The Vale to its junction with Palm Court.

E) REASON FOR THE ORDER
For the safety of pedestrians and cyclists during consultation into the design of the pedestrian and cycling zone.

F) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 15th February 2022 for a maximum of 18 months, with an extension of six months for further consultation.

G) DIVERSION
Vehicles diverted from Clarence Parade, Lennox Road South, (Villiers Road), Clarendon Road or Clarence Parade, Osborne Road, The Circle, Maple Road, Villiers Road.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.
