Portsmouth City Council (Southwick Road) (Temporary Speed Reduction) (No.22) Order 2021

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) and 14(4)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Order comes into operation from 16th February 2021 and the effect will be as follows:-

A) TEMPORARY SPEED REDUCTION FROM 60MPH TO 40MPH

Southwick Road

From the national speed limit sign south of Portsdown Hill Road roundabout to the entrance to QinetiQ.

B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate mechanical road sweeping and cleansing.

C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 16th February 2021 for 11 months or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, the speed reductions will be notified by the placement of on-street signage prior to works taking place on the following dates:
From 2300 on 16th February 2021 to 01:00 on 20th February 2021;
From 2300 on 13th April 2021 to 01:00 on 17th April 2021;
From 2300 on 15th June 2021 to 01:00 on 19th June 2021;
From 2300 on 10th August 2021 to 01:00 on 14th August 2021;
From 2300 on 12th October 2021 to 01:00 on 16th October 2021;
From 2300 on 14th December 2021 to 01:00 on 18th December 2021.

D) DIVERSION
Existing speed limit signage will be covered and temporary on-street speed signage placed on-street.
