Portsmouth City Council (New Road) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving, Loading and Waiting) (No.91) Order 2021
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 9th August 2021 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, LOADING AND WAITING
BYRON ROAD
For 20 metres from the junction of New Road East.
NEW ROAD EAST
From the junction of New Road (outside No. 225 New Road) to 3A New Road East.
B) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
NEW ROAD
On the north side from outside 215 New Road to the junction of Byron Road.
On the north side from 239 New Road to the junction of Northgate Avenue.
On the south side from opposite the junction of Carnarvon Road to the junction of George Street.
C) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate City Fibre ducting works across New Road.
D) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 9th August 2021 for 3 working weeks or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, the order will cease to be in effect from 16:00 on 27th August 2021.
E) DIVERSION
Vehicles diverted from New Road – Northgate Avenue – New Road East – Tennyson Road – Queen’s Road – Aylesbury Road and Carnarvon Road – Queen’s Road – Tennyson Road – New Road East or Queen’s Road – Copnor Road – New Road. Cyclists to follow local diversions.
Pedestrian access will be maintained via walkways around the works.
Two way signals will be in operation on New Road.
