The Portsmouth City Council (King George V Fireworks) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving) (No.128) Order 2021

Portsmouth City Council pursuant to arrangements made under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding in the roads and the lengths of roads set out below on Wednesday 3rd November 2021 for no more than 30 minutes between 19:45 to 20:15.

Notwithstanding the above, it is anticipated the closures will be in place from 19:45 for approximately 30 minutes or at the discretion of the Chief Constable of Hampshire Constabulary. Roads will reopen when it is deemed safe to do so.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING

1. NORTHERN ROAD
From its junction with Portsbridge Roundabout to its junction with Medina Road roundabout in both directions.

2. NORTHERN ROAD
From its junction with Medina Road roundabout to 40 metres south of its junction with Portsmouth Road in both directions.

3. PORTSMOUTH ROAD
90 metres south of Highbury Way to its junction with Portsbridge Roundabout in both directions

REASON FOR THE ORDER
The above restrictions are necessary for the safe egress from the King George V Fireworks event.

DIVERSION
Vehicles diverted from Western Road – Southampton Road – Northern Road and vice versa.
Buses will be diverted from Medina Road roundabout – Wayte Street – High Street – Cosham Interchange – Portsmouth Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained.
