Portsmouth City Council (Charlotte Street) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving, Loading and Waiting) (No.66) Order 2020
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and (b) of the Act, the Council are satisfied that for the purposes of avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road to which the order relates, it is requisite that subsection Section 3(1)(b) of the Act should not apply to this order. Notwithstanding the above, no vehicle shall be permitted access to premises, except any authorised vehicle being used in connection with deliveries to premises between the hours of 20:00 and 08:00.
The Order comes into operation from 4th July 2020 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING
CHARLOTTE STREET From the junction of Brewer Street to east of the Portsmouth Market Way car park entrance.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate social distancing measures because of the likelihood of danger to the public.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 4th July 2020 for a maximum of 18 months.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles diverted from Cascades Approach, Marketway (A3), Marketway Roundabout, Landport View. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Cycle access will be permitted in both directions on Charlotte Street.
Cyclists permitted to continue from Charlotte Street to Landport View, dismount at Marketway pedestrian crossing, and use Frederick Street, Andrew Bell Street and Clarence Street and vice versa.
A copy of the Order may be examined at the Information Desk, Ground Floor, Civic Offices, Portsmouth, during normal office hours.
