Portsmouth City Council (Great South Run) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Waiting and Loading) (No.162) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic Regulation (Special Events) Act 1994.
The Order comes into operation from 12th October 2026 and the effect will be as follows:-
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING

From Avenue de Caen to junction with Jack Cockerill Way (west of entrance to Pyramids Car Park).

E) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate the Great South Run, 5k and Junior run events.
F) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 06:00 on Monday 12th October 2026 until 17:00 on Monday 19th October 2026 or completion of the event, whichever is sooner.
G) DIVERSION
HGV and local diversions will be signposted and marshalled on all roads approaching the route. Road closures will be lifted along the route when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the event.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the event.
