King George V football complex

Discover facilities and improvements at the King George V Football Complex.

The King George V football complex in Cosham is now open for use, operated by Hampshire FA. The project was carried out in partnership with the Football Foundation to support the development of youth and adult football in the city.

Our aim is to develop adult and youth football by providing a new football complex that will enable people to play football, whatever the weather, in the north of the city. It will facilitate local grassroots football clubs and leagues and will be managed by Hampshire FA, on behalf of the Council.

The football field offers lots of opportunities and places to meet and play:

  • 2 full size 100 x 64m pitches
  • 4 9v9 pitches
  • 6 7v7 pitches
  • 12 5v5 pitches

The pitches are also supported by a large pavilion building which offers changing facilities, a café, toilets (including changing places facilities), meeting rooms and seating areas. There are also natural grass pitches.

Previous engagement

We previously held two engagement events at Cosham Library and also had a survey for people to give their views. The results can be viewed on the Your City Your Say website.

Funding

The KGV Football Complex also received funding from the government towards the new facilities as part of the Hilsea Lines project, which was included in the wider Transforming the Visitor Economy bid.

Additionally, there was also funding from the Youth Investment Fund (YIF) to create a visitor attraction that ensures young people in our local area have access to regular out of school activities, whilst promoting health and wellbeing opportunities for all to enjoy.
